Working with Thirteen Group, we were tasked with the challenge of making their external air conditioning units look more aesthetic and more appealing to the public eye.
The units themselves are a light cream colour and look very industrial which makes them very visible, especially against the residential buildings. As a solution to this problem, we decided the best course of action would be to wrap the units in the same colour / texture as the wall behind them to help them blend in with their surroundings.
To begin with, we needed to visit each site and take photos of the brickwork that the units sit in front of, making sure we were taking photos of areas that we’re too shaded or too sunny as this would affect the colour of the prints.
Next, we had to a lot of sampling to do. This meant we added colours / filters / saturation to the images to get a variation of colours for our client to sign off. Once we had a range of samples we went back out to site to decide which sample would be the best. As bricks and vinyl reflect light a lot differently we needed to choose the sample which would look aesthetically pleasing in both shade and full sun. Once our client was happy - we went to print!
Once we had all the prints, it was time to install. We completed a number of units in situe as well as installing some in our own unit before they were to get installed on the buildings.
Overall the feedback on this project has been incredible, with Thirteen Group regularly coming back for more and more unit wraps to blend into their many residential areas across Teesside.
